This kōkako portrait was created for the 2024 Bird of the Year campaign, where it served as the campaign’s Instagram icon. The original artwork was later gifted to the Rotoehu Ecological Trust and presented to Mike Murphy, CEO of Kokako Coffee, in appreciation of his longstanding support and commitment to the trust’s work.
This A5 watercolour depicts a well-known toutouwai, Julio, from the Dansey Road Scenic Reserve. I painted it as a gift for a colleague during the summer I spent as a guide at Rotorua Canopy Tours – a small tribute to a bird and a place that left a lasting impression.
This A3 watercolour was created for an exhibition at Gate Pā. It depicts two kererū perched in a karaka tree, with gold leaf applied to their wings.
